Weird Wonders of the week

Hello there weird news lovers and welcome once again to my cheery blog post where you can laugh, mock, and re-coil at some very odd yet amazing stories I have cooked up for you this week :)

Firstly we have the joys of an Australian television station which has come under invasion by Segullzilla!!!
Channel 9's newsreader Peter Hitchiner, was upstaged earlier this week by a seagull which had been parading in front of the stations cityscape camera.
Apparently the bird had been pecking the camera most of the night, decided to go for its 15 minutes of fame. Although it does look like it can see into your soul!!! CREEPY!

Check out the video:

A man in America has been pleaded guilty to a rather bizarre drink driving offence this week.

Dennis LeRoy Anderson, aged 62, attempted to travel home after a few beers in his pimped-out, motorised La-Z-boy chair.
Unfortunately good old Dennis didn't bet on the fact that he would crash into a parked car and be caught by the police, riding around on a lawnmower power armchair 3times over the drink-drive limit.
Dennis was not seriously harmed, and the Police in Proctor are now selling the chair off in an auction. I know I'm bidding!

A Cornish farmer got a shock when he got a two for one duck egg.

Roger Olver, from the Cornish Duck Company in St Austell, was hatching eggs on his farm, when two beaks peeped out from the same egg.

The farmer said this was incredibly rare and that the twins are doing well considering they were cooped up together all that time.

The cute little ducklings are now called Romulus and Remus, and have been adopted as pets rather than an addition to the dinner table.

Have a look at them hatching here:

And finally, a teenager in Cambridgeshire was told he was too young to buy wine gums earlier this week.

15-year-old Jaz Bhogal
was made to hand over his sweets, after the shopkeeper of a 99p store in Wisbech, said he was underage, and shouldn't be eating them because they have "wine" in the title.
Whatever next?!

Also just a quickie (oo-err) check out these quirky photos of The Secret Lives of Everyday Things by Terry Border.... Just BRILLIANT!

Thanks again, and i shall see you again next week weird news lovers :)

Wierd News from the Week

Hello there weird news followers, and welcome to the first installment of your weekly intake of the weird and wonderful news of the world.

First on the agenda, Ministers in the Maldives are taking a splash in a rather bizarre cabinet meeting.

President Mohamed Nasheed, and his other ministers all took the plunge for their televised meeting this week, in an attempt to draw attention to the effects of global warming.

Communicating using hand signals and whiteboards, the ministers signed a document urging all countries to cut their carbon emissions in a desk set up 6ft under the sea.

Luckily there weren't any sharks! check out the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odFmDiYWJ0M

Also on the weird news radar; want to win weapons and ammunition? Well these were the prizes given out in a Somali quiz this week.

The quiz, which ran during the month of Ramadan, composed of questions about the Koran and Somali Geography, giving young men the opportunity to"stop wasting their time, and start defending their territory" said an al-Shabab militant group member.

The winning team, reportedly won: a rifle, two grenades, a landmine and office supplies worth $1,000, while the runners up didn't go away empty handed, they got an AK-47 complete with bullets.

Let's just hope there weren't any sore losers!

Finally, if your female, living in Hungary and have had plastic surgery, well nows your time to shine! It's only "Miss Plastic Surgery" that well known beauty pageant!

Competitors got to celebrate all things fake and beautiful, in the event and the winner bagged herself an apartment in Budapest. Lovely.

Well that's it for this week, I'll be rooting around for some more bizarre beauties for next time.
